Assistant Accountant

Your new company Financial Services business based in Hampshire require an interim Assistant Accountant to see them through a busy period. Your new role Sitting within the Accounting team part of the Finance department based in head office. Partnering with the business, the Assistant Accountant supports and challenges account owners to ensure the financial control framework is adhered to; monthly deadliness are met; and there is clear understanding by the business of the impact on the financials.Adhering to the monthly closing checklist, ensuring prompt and accurate booking of closing journals in line with Group policy, with appropriate evidence and authorisation. Maintaining a proactive dialogue with Accounting Manager throughout the month to manage expectations and escalate any delays or issues Preparing and reviewing financial control reconciliations, managing provisions through timely resolution of reconciling or ageing items (in conjunction with the account owner), and ensuring there is a clearly documented action plan in place with regular updates and prompt escalation to the Accounting Manager Providing detailed and effective monthly trend analysis on key Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet positions Actively developing a commercial understanding of accounting balances and championing continuous improvement to financial processes and the financial control framework Support and coach junior team members What you'll need to succeed Finalist or Newly Qualified Accountant (ACMA, CIMA)Strong Excel SkillsOracale / SAP Desirable What you need to do now If you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.If this job isn't quite right for you, but you are looking for a new position, please contact us for a confidential discussion about your career.
