Job Description

The Senior Product Owner is responsible for driving the implementation of product strategy, managing the product backlog, and leading cross-functional teams to deliver maximum value. Operating across the entire product lifecycle, this role includes overseeing budgets (typically £5m) and resources, ensuring successful product launches, and evolving the product for long-term success. The position involves managing high levels of complexity, interdependencies, and engaging with senior stakeholders across multiple business units. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with senior leadership to define, track, and deliver on the product strategy and agreed priorities. Develop and maintain the product roadmap, aligning it with key outcomes and business objectives. Stay informed about vendor technology and roadmaps to maximise the value delivered by external solutions. Establish and track performance metrics to evaluate results against objectives. Lead a matrixed agile team (typically 15), including experts in business, technology, data, design, and research, to foster a continuous improvement cycle. Utilise feedback, data, user research, and industry best practices to inform and prioritise the product backlog. Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from ideation to launch and post-launch management, ensuring iterative improvements that deliver maximum value. Communicate the product roadmap effectively to stakeholders, ensuring alignment and understanding across the organisation. Coordinate with other product owners to maintain a cohesive product portfolio roadmap, managing cross-product dependencies. Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including vendor partners, to ensure collaboration and alignment. Navigate complex environments involving multiple business units, managing competing priorities and dependencies effectively. Required Skills and Experience Proven expertise in product management, with a deep understanding of lifecycle management from concept to launch and ongoing development. Strategic thinking skills, with the ability to align product strategy to business goals and adapt to market trends. Exceptional stakeholder management, engaging effectively with clients, business representatives, and cross-functional teams. Strong technical understanding of product development, including technology stacks, software development processes, and digital platforms. Ability to translate market and customer insights into actionable product features and improvements. Experience managing complex projects, including budgets, resources, and timelines. Leadership experience in managing Agile teams, fostering collaboration, and driving performance with a unified team mindset. Excellent communication skills for articulating product vision, strategy, and updates across the organisation. Proficiency with tools such as Jira, Miro, and project portfolio management software. Demonstrable experience in a product management or product ownership role. Certified Product Owner qualification. Strong familiarity with Agile methodologies and iterative delivery practices.
