Job Role : Operations specialist monitoring feeds Experience : 5Years Location : CHENNAI Notice Period : Immediate to 15 Days Position Type : C2H Job Description : Primary Skills : CADM-Cloud Apps-AWS (Amazon) - 3-5 years of experience in RPG programming (RPG IV, RPGLE, Free-format RPG). - Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience). - Strong hands-on experience with DB2/400 and SQL for iSeries. - Solid experience in application development and maintenance on IBM iSeries (AS/400) platform. - Proficient in RPG/400, RPGLE, and Free-format RPG programming. - Strong knowledge of DB2 for i, SQL, and database design. - Experience in CL (Control Language) programming. - Familiarity with IBM iSeries system administration and performance optimization. - Experience with API and web service integration on IBM i is a plus. - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. - Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. - Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously Roles and Responsibilities : 1. RPG Programming & Application Development : - Develop, maintain, and enhance applications using RPG IV, RPGLE, and Free-format RPG on the IBM iSeries (AS/400) platform. - Write and maintain high-quality RPG code for new applications, modifications, and enhancements to existing applications, ensuring that all development is in line with industry best practices. - Design and implement new business logic and functionality to support business needs and application requirements. 2. Database Development & Maintenance : - Develop and optimize DB2/400 databases and SQL for iSeries to meet business needs and performance goals. - Design and implement database schemas, manage stored procedures, triggers, and SQL scripts to optimize database performance. - Provide database troubleshooting and optimization, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability. 3. System Integration & API Development : - Integrate APIs and web services with IBM iSeries systems to ensure data exchange and interoperability with other platforms, including AWS cloud services. - Develop and consume RESTful APIs for seamless integration with external systems, ensuring that APIs adhere to best practices in security and data integrity. 4. CL (Control Language) Programming : - Write and maintain CL programs to automate system tasks, integrate with external applications, and perform system administration functions. - Implement control programs for job scheduling, system automation, and management of iSeries processes to ensure system efficiency. 5. iSeries System Administration & Optimization : - Assist in IBM iSeries system administration tasks, including user management, backup and recovery processes, system upgrades, and ensuring system availability. - Monitor system performance and optimize the iSeries environment, identifying areas of improvement in CPU usage, memory management, and disk utilization. - Work with system administration teams to troubleshoot and resolve any system-related issues and to ensure smooth operation of iSeries systems. 6. Cloud Integration with AWS (Amazon Web Services) : - Work with AWS cloud technologies to integrate IBM iSeries applications with Cloud Apps for data storage, computing, and application deployment. - Collaborate with cloud infrastructure teams to design and implement cloud-based solutions to extend the capabilities of on-premise IBM iSeries applications to the cloud. - Optimize cloud infrastructure on AWS for enhanced scalability, performance, and cost-efficiency. 7. Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution : - Provide problem-solving expertise to identify and address issues within RPG applications, DB2/400, or the overall iSeries environment. - Work closely with teams to diagnose and resolve issues related to application functionality, database queries, and system performance. 8. Collaboration & Communication : - Collaborate with other team members, including developers, system administrators, and business analysts, to gather requirements, design solutions, and implement them effectively. - Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders, translating business requirements into technical specifications. - Contribute to cross-functional discussions and ensure alignment on project goals, timelines, and deliverables. 9. Project Management & Multitasking : - Prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that deadlines are met while maintaining a high standard of work. - Actively participate in project planning, design discussions, and status meetings, providing updates on progress and any challenges encountered. - Balance day-to-day support requests with project delivery tasks, ensuring both operational stability and continuous improvement. 10. Documentation & Best Practices : - Maintain detailed technical documentation for RPG applications, database schemas, CL programs, system configurations, and cloud integrations. - Adhere to coding standards, version control practices, and industry best practices in RPG development and cloud integration. 11. Continuous Learning & Skills Enhancement : - Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in RPG programming, DB2 for i, IBM iSeries platform, AWS cloud technologies, and API development. - Proactively seek opportunities for continuous improvement of skills and knowledge to keep pace with evolving technologies.
