Day-to-day of the role: As an Autism Specialist Teacher Assistant, you will: Support the Autism Specialist Teacher in developing and implementing educational strategies tailored to the needs of students with autism. Assist in creating a supportive, engaging, and effective learning environment for students with special needs. Help implement evidence-based practices to enhance students’ communication, social skills, and behavioural management. Participate in assessments to monitor student progress and adapt educational plans accordingly. Provide support to other staff members in understanding the best practices for supporting students with autism. Engage with families to provide insights and strategies that support their children’s learning and development. Required Skills & Qualifications: Experience working with SEN children in a similar role or a role with transferable skills. A confident, proactive approach, with a desire to go above and beyond in supporting children with special needs. Must possess or be willing to obtain a DBS certificate on the update service. Excellent communication and collaborative skills to effectively work with colleagues, students, and parents. A commitment to continuous professional development in the field of autism education.
