Faculty / Directorate The Faculty of Arts, Design and Humanities is home to DMU’s creative disciplines and humanities subjects. The Faculty is structured around three Schools, School of Art, Design and Architecture, School of Fashion and Textiles and School of Humanities and Performing Arts. Arts, Design and Humanities is also home to the Leicester Gallery, one of the city’s leading contemporary art venues, as well as to the De Montfort University’s Confucius Institute, which celebrates Chinese language and culture. Role You will work on a multi-disciplinary research project funded by DEFRA / Environment Agency, called The Flood: Aware, Informed and Resilient (FAIR) project. FAIR is an innovative and collaborative project that aims to reduce community flood risk and improve flood resilience across Staffordshire, Stoke and the Black Country - see A FAIR Approach to Community Flood Risk | Engage Environment Agency (engagementhq.com). FAIR is part of the £200m Flood and Coastal Resilience Innovation Programme current and future flood risks, from the sea, rivers, groundwater and surface water. • You will play an integral role in the FAIR project, working with external partners (South Staffs County Council, National Flood Forum, community members and others), PhD students and academic staff in conducting research, authoring reports and publications, and contributing to meetings and presentations. More specifically, you will lead on the development of approaches to guide the evaluation of innovation in the context of flood risk management and flood resilience within the FAIR project. You will also be expected to lead on new research funding applications. Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will hold a PhD in a related field and have expertise and / or experience in flood risk management, innovation and / or innovation management. You will have skills and expertise in research methods including systematic literature reviews, community. You will have excellent communication skills in sharing and disseminating complex issues, both in verbal and written communication. You will have well-developed self-management skills with the ability to prioritise work appropriately, deal with several competing demands, manage own time effectively and deliver results to an agreed schedule.
