Electronics Product Compliance and Reliability Engineer / Manager (AC & DC EV Chargers) - Kent - £50,000 to £70,000 Position: Electronics Product Compliance and Reliability Manager - £60k to £70k Position: Electronics Product Compliance and Reliability Engineer - £50k to £60k Location: Kent (Hybrid: Minimum one day in the office per week) Travel: Two trips to China per year, with occasional travel to the EU for user research. Role Overview This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced electronics professional to focus on ensuring product compliance and reliability for cutting-edge EV charging hardware. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to align product design with evolving market demands, compliance requirements, and customer needs. The role requires occasional international travel to collaborate with customers, partners, and regulatory bodies. Key Responsibilities Market and Regulatory Research Conduct in-depth research on global EV charging trends, focusing on UK and EU markets. Engage with regulatory bodies (e.g., IEC, IET) to ensure products meet UK and EU compliance standards. Represent the company in trade associations (e.g., BEAMA, OCA, CharIN) to stay updated on and influence industry standards. Collaborate with B2B customers and end users to identify and implement key product improvements. Compliance and Reliability Engineering Define hardware requirements based on market trends, customer needs, and compliance standards in the UK and EU. Review hardware designs to ensure reliability, safety, compliance, and cybersecurity while maintaining cost efficiency. Focus on enhancing product reliability by improving Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) through robust component selection, advanced testing standards, and design optimisations. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with software product managers to ensure hardware compatibility with IoT functionality and connectivity protocols tailored to the UK and EU. Provide technical insights to sales and project teams to meet customer requirements effectively. Innovation and Advocacy Propose and implement innovations for both AC and DC chargers to address evolving market demands, regulatory changes, and customer expectations in the UK and EU. Promote best practices in hardware design and testing to enhance long-term product reliability and performance. Ideal Candidate Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field. Minimum 3 years of experience in hardware product management, electronics design, or a related role within the EV charging or electronics sector. Familiarity with UK and EU compliance standards (e.g., IEC, IET) is highly desirable. Experience working with diverse international teams is a strong plus. Skills & Traits Analytical thinker with a problem-solving mindset focused on cost-effective, compliant, and high-performing designs. Strong technical understanding of IoT protocols and connectivity concepts. Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork and customer interactions. Self-motivated and adaptable to dynamic regulatory and technical landscapes. Willingness to travel internationally, including extended trips overseas and periodic travel across the EU.
