Job Description
Role: Data Analyst / Scientist Salary: £29,000 – rising to £31,500 within 12 months Location: Liverpool City Centre (4 days onsite) About: This role is a for a client that provides Healthcare insurance plans for companies and has been established for over 100 years The Data Analyst / Scientist will support the Underwriting & Analytics team by utilising internal systems and third-party data to deliver actionable insights and innovative solutions. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in producing competitive quotes for new business, deploying machine learning algorithms across various datasets, and driving operational and strategic improvements. This role involves a blend of data analysis, predictive modelling, and process optimisation to enhance business outcomes. Responsibilities: Data Analysis and Insights: Analyse internal systems and third-party data to produce competitive quotes for new business. Provide data-driven insights to inform underwriting decisions and pricing strategies. Monitor and report on key metrics, including quote conversion rates and policyholder claims patterns. Machine Learning and Predictive Analytics: Build and deploy machine learning algorithms across all business datasets. Develop models to improve quote conversion rates and identify instances of policyholder claims fraud. Implement policyholder scoring systems based on claims experience to enable automated claims payments. Operational Improvements: Design and implement internal productivity tracking to identify and resolve resource bottlenecks before they impact operations. Assist in cross-selling initiatives by analysing claims data to identify customers who could benefit from additional products or services (e.g. training courses). Data Strategy and Governance: Maintain and ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of datasets used in analysis and model development. Work collaboratively with IT to ensure optimal data infrastructure and accessibility. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with all business units to align data solutions with business objectives. Communicate complex findings and insights in a clear and actionable manner to non-technical stakeholders. Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about advancements in data analytics, machine learning, and industry-specific technologies. Identify opportunities to refine and enhance analytical processes and tools. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare detailed documentation of models, methodologies, and findings. Produce regular and ad-hoc reports for senior management and stakeholders. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure all data analysis and machine learning initiatives comply with regulatory and ethical standards. Identify potential data-related risks and propose mitigation strategies. Skills: Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL). Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, scikit-learn). Knowledge of statistical modelling and predictive analytics techniques. Proficient in data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). Familiarity with data governance, security, and regulatory compliance requirements. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
