Job Description
Role Overview The Operations Manager will lead and manage operations at Honeypot Pen Y Bryn, ensuring high-quality service delivery for children and young people. This role involves managing a team, maintaining operational efficiency, and driving continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include managing budgets, developing staff, and fostering external partnerships. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership : Lead, manage, and develop a team of 20 staff members (Full-time, Part-time, and Bank), ensuring high performance and a collaborative work environment. Operational Strategy : Implement Honeypot’s Strategic Plan and ensure compliance with key policies, including Safeguarding, Health & Safety, and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion. Service Delivery : Manage scheduling to ensure a full programme of services is delivered on time and within budget, while monitoring quality and maintaining high standards. Staff Management : Oversee staff training, appraisals, recruitment, and professional development to ensure motivation, competency, and alignment with organisational goals. Site Management : Ensure property and equipment comply with Health & Safety guidelines. Oversee cleaning, maintenance, and fire safety procedures. Financial Oversight : Manage the budget, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation and the completion of all projects on time and within budget. Collaborate with fundraising teams to secure additional resources. External Relations : Build strong relationships with schools, children’s services, and local communities to maximise referrals and partnership opportunities. Qualifications and Experience Essential : Relevant professional qualification (e.g., social work, education, or health). Minimum of 3 years’ senior leadership experience in social care, education, or a related field. Proven experience managing teams, budgets, and service delivery for children or young people. Solid understanding of relevant legislation, safeguarding, and Health & Safety practices. Skills and Attributes Leadership and People Management : Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, foster collaboration, and create a positive workplace culture. Skilled in motivating staff and driving performance through coaching and feedback. Change Management : Strong capability to navigate and lead through change, fostering a culture of adaptability and continuous improvement in a fast-evolving environment. Strategic Thinking and Problem Solving : Ability to develop long-term strategies, analyse complex situations, and make data-driven decisions to solve challenges and seize opportunities. Digital Proficiency : Skilled in using modern productivity tools (Microsoft 365, project management software, CRM systems) and adopting new technologies to improve operational efficiency. Financial Acumen : Strong understanding of budget management, financial forecasting, and cost optimisation while maintaining operational standards. Beneficiary-Centric Mindset : Focus on ensuring that all services align with beneficiary needs and expectations, utilising feedback loops and data to continuously enhance service delivery. Collaborative and Inclusive Leadership : Ability to build relationships across departments and external stakeholders, promoting inclusivity and encouraging diverse perspectives to inform decision-making. Resilience and Stress Management : Ability to thrive in high-pressure environments, manage multiple priorities, and maintain calm under stress. Innovation and Agility : Proactive in identifying opportunities for innovation, implementing new ideas, and quickly adjusting strategies in response to changing conditions or feedback. Communication and Stakeholder Engagement : Exceptional communication skills to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders, including staff, partners, and the community. Additional Requirements Full driving licence and own car. Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance (post exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974).
