Key Responsibilities: Oversee and participate in the selection and maintenance of hardware/software platforms for District Enterprise Systems. Design and manage scalable, secure storage systems, servers, networks, and peripherals. Conduct system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning. Evaluate new applications to ensure compatibility with existing systems. Prepare technical specifications and oversee implementation projects. Lead the development of long-term strategic plans for transitioning to new operating systems or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure). Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, telecommunications, or related fields (substitutable with equivalent professional experience). Experience: 5 years in the design, installation, maintenance, and modification of Microsoft, VMware, and Linux (Red Hat or SUSE) systems. 2 years of professional-level experience in large-scale system environments, including expertise in VMware, SAN storage, enterprise backup systems, and cloud infrastructure. 2 years in system performance measurement, monitoring, and long-term planning. Special Requirements: Valid California Driver's License and use of a personal vehicle. Subject to the District’s Conflict of Interest Code. Preferred Expertise: Operating systems: Linux, Windows, VMware, Citrix Xen. Storage systems: HPE 3Par, NetApp, Dell/EMC, Virtual Tape Libraries. Cloud technologies: AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud. Networking and communication: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP. Project management, security hardening, and system virtualization.
