1:1 Teaching Assistant - ADHD

Your new company Hays Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a Widnes-based single-form entry primary school that is easily accessible via public transport as they are looking to appoint a reliable and enthusiastic teaching assistant for a full-time temporary contract. This is a 1:1 position supporting a pupil in Year 2 with ADHD and behavioural needs. Your new role As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting the Year 2 class and supporting a pupil within the class on a 1:1 basis. As you will be supporting ADHD and behavioural needs, you will be required to build a strong constructive relationship with your pupils as to ensure that they reach their full academic potential and to closely monitor their behaviour and emotional state. You will implement a myriad of positive behaviour strategies to promote their learning and engagement, including "Now & Next", playing games to retain focus, distraction, and regulation. You will offer intervention and booster sessions in all core subjects and liaise with the class teacher to ensure that all sessions are in line with their attainment needs. In the event that their behaviours escalate, you will take them out of the classroom as to ensure that they are in a safe space and give them time to burn off steam before re-engaging.
