Senior Backend Engineer - Node.js/TypeScript

As we continue to expand our team, we are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with expertise in Node.js and TypeScript to join us in Mumbai. Role & Responsibilities : As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining high performance backend systems. You will lead and contribute to key projects, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, efficient, and scalable solutions. Key Responsibilities : - Write efficient, scalable, and maintainable server-side code using Node.js and TypeScript. - Design and develop REST APIs to power front-end applications. - Ensure APIs are robust, secure, and optimized for performance. - Integrate with third-party services and APIs, including social media platforms (e., Facebook, YouTube, Twitch) and eCommerce APIs like Shopify to extend application functionality. - Utilize Express.js and NestJS for building scalable and modular backend services. - Design and implement database schemas, as well as integrate with MongoDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL databases. - Ensure efficient data storage, retrieval, and handling. - Work with cloud computing platforms such as AWS (Amazon Web Services) or private cloud environments to deploy and manage applications. - Ensure the application scales effectively on cloud platforms. - Focus on optimizing backend applications for maximum speed, scalability, and low-latency performance, especially under heavy load scenarios. - Ensure the backend system is capable of presenting data in multiple formats, including JSON, XML, and others as per requirements. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams including frontend developers, product managers, and designers to deliver high-quality solutions. - Lead by example, mentor junior engineers, and assist in improving overall development practices. - Conduct thorough code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards, quality best practices, and security guidelines. - Write clear and concise documentation for APIs, backend services, and databases to ensure maintainability and ease of integration for future development. Required Qualifications & Skills : Education : - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). - 7 years of experience in backend software development, with a focus on Node.js and TypeScript. - Strong experience with RESTful API development and API integration with third-party services (e., Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, Shopify). - Solid experience with MongoDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL. - Strong ability to design and implement database schemas, as well as manage and optimize databases for performance and scalability. - Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms (e., Google Cloud, Azure) to deploy and scale applications in the cloud environment. - Experience with backend frameworks such as Express.js and NestJS. - Strong knowledge of application optimization techniques for speed and scalability, especially for applications handling high volumes of data. - Strong technical depth across multiple backend programming languages, frameworks, and platforms. - Ability to work on complex technical challenges and drive solutions. - Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with various stakeholders and collaborate effectively across teams. Desired Skills : - Familiarity with GraphQL is a plus. - Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration. - Knowledge of CI/CD practices and tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI for continuous integration and deployment. - Understanding of microservices architecture and experience building distributed systems. - Familiarity with DevOps practices and experience working in agile teams (ref:hirist.tech)
