The Senior Controller will oversee the financial operations of Ashley Sling and Patriot Cranes, divisions of American Equipment.
Ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and strategic financial planning. This role requires a strong background in an industrial setting and expertise in Sage software.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with divisional accounting teams to ensure proper internal controls, adherence to policies and procedures, protect assets and develop strong financial discipline.
- Produce timely, accurate and actionable financials statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Lead job costing and manufacturing accounting consistency across all businesses.
- Develop strong accounting practice around recording and invoicing service technician activities and parts inventory management.
- Lead the financial integration of multiple acquired companies and implement common finance processes, procedures, and controls.
- Develop GAAP compliant finance processes and systems that serve business needs and successful pass compliance and audit standards.
- Build finance teams at both the division and corporate level with competent, talented, and high performing individuals to ensure stable and trustworthy financial operations and reports.
- Work in conjunction with Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team members to produce an annual budget that includes forecasted financial statements for revenue, expenses, gross profit, gross margin, and EBITDA. Work with management to set monthly and quarterly hard target goals and allocate all expenses and other parameters.
- Develop and maintain the corporate financial structure to ensure positive monthly cash flow and annual financial targets are achieved.
- Develop and manage a Treasury platform to promote enhanced visibility and better management of liquid assets.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to set sales deal pricing, discount or rebate programs, payment and credit terms and other financial terms to maximize profit.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to set supplier deal contract terms, units purchase price, discounts and rebates and other financial terms to reduce cost and maximize cash flow.
- Determine inventory and other asset valuations and controls.
- Ensure all taxes are accurate, filed on time and payments remitted.
- Manage all accounting activities including payables, receivables, payroll, and others.
- Provide financial reports, analysis and other data and information to both management and private equity fund general partners on a routine basis.
- Develop and produce all company financial reports, statements, scorecards and other metrics and data.
- Manage company financial compliance and risk management to all laws and regulations and supervise all audits and record keeping activities.
- Manage the overall financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and present financial statements and reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as internal policies.
- Develop and implement financial strategies to enhance the company's performance and profitability.
- Oversee the accounting team, providing guidance and leadership to ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial processes.
- Conduct financial analysis to support business decisions and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with other departments to align financial goals with company objectives.
- Maintain and enhance the Sage ERM software system to ensure accurate financial reporting and data integrity.
Education and Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial management role within an industrial setting.
- Managed an accounting team
- Strong proficiency in Sage ERM software and other accounting software.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong leadership abilities with a focus on team development.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.0

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced Excel Skills
What you need to be successful:
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, primarily relating to developing and maintaining financial models
- Experience in financial forecasting
- Experience in creating company-wide annual budgets
- Excellent presentation skills and the ability to prepare professional written and oral presentations regarding financial and operational analysis
- Comfortable offering your opinion, even if it differs from those around you
- Open to listening to and considering opinions that differ from your own
- Experience with Private Equity backed companies is a plus
This is a full-time onsite position; 8-hour days, Monday through Friday, with travel up to 50%
