Job Description
Job Title: Integration Engineer - Testing & Validation Location: (Midlands - Hybrid) Type: Contract - Outside IR35 Responsibilities: As an Integration Engineer focusing on the right-hand side of the V-Diagram, you will take ownership of testing and validating the performance, safety, and reliability of the vehicle systems. Your role will involve designing and executing rigorous tests, ensuring compliance with requirements, and conducting hands-on system and vehicle testing. 1. Test Planning and Development: o Collaborate with systems engineers to write comprehensive test cases based on vehicle requirements and specifications. o Develop test plans for components, subsystems, and full vehicle systems, ensuring that all functional, safety, and performance requirements are thoroughly tested. 2. Hands-On Testing: o Perform hands-on testing of components, subsystems, and the full vehicle system in lab and field environments. o Conduct functional, performance, and stress testing to evaluate system behaviour under real-world operating conditions. o Work closely with prototypes and test rigs to validate functionality and performance. 3. Test Execution and Validation: o Execute system and vehicle-level tests, documenting results and ensuring compliance with all specifications. o Verify that all systems meet functional, safety, and reliability requirements before integration and deployment. o Validate the interaction between mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and software systems to ensure cohesive operation. 4. Diagnostics and Issue Resolution: o Analyse test results to identify issues, root causes, and areas for improvement. o Work with systems, controls, and design engineers to resolve issues and re-test as necessary. o Track and report identified issues, documenting findings in a clear and organized manner. 5.Collaboration and Feedback: o Collaborate with cross-functional teams (controls, software, mechanical, and systems engineers) to provide detailed feedback on test results and take a proactive approach to shaping the attributes and operation of the vehicles. o Support iterative development cycles by validating fixes and changes made in response to test findings. 6. Documentation and Reporting: o Generate detailed test reports, summarizing test results, issues encountered, and recommendations for improvement. o Document the verification and validation process, ensuring traceability between requirements and test cases. 7. Continuous Improvement: o Contribute to the refinement of test procedures and tools to enhance testing efficiency and accuracy. o Stay up to date with best practices in testing and validation, applying new methodologies as appropriate. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Experience: 3 years of experience in testing and validation engineering, preferably within the automotive, heavy machinery, or related industries. Proven experience in creating and executing test plans and procedures based on system requirements. Hands-on experience testing mechanical, electrical, and software systems in complex products. Hands-on experience with High-Voltage (400V) systems would be beneficial Technical Skills: Strong understanding of the V-Cycle development process, with a focus on verification and validation activities on the right-hand side. Proficiency in writing test cases, designing test plans, and executing system-level tests. Hands-on expertise with industry standard measurement and diagnostic tools (e.g., CANalyzer, CANoe) and testing platforms. Familiarity with validation of HMI and control interfaces, as well as integration with mechanical and hydraulic systems. Familiarity with MATLAB and Simulink/Simscape environments Proficiency in analysis, and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, or other test analysis tools). Soft Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate test results into actionable insights. Strong communication skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations clearly to cross-functional teams. Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple test activities simultaneously. Collaborative mindset, fostering strong relationships across teams to achieve shared goals.
