Job Description

The Role: As a Technical Project Manager at ECS, you’ll join a skilled team working on world-class products in the Battlespace, Datalinks, and Spectrum Monitoring Systems (SMS) markets. This position offers an exciting opportunity for someone with a solid technical background who is eager to take on a leadership role and develop their project management and team management skills. This is a full-time permanent position with a hybrid working arrangement, requiring a minimum of 3 days in the office. Your Responsibilities: Project Management: Manage key engineering projects, including New Product Introduction (NPI) and revenue-generating initiatives, while ensuring alignment with business objectives. You’ll be responsible for maintaining risk logs, action logs, and resource planning throughout the project lifecycle. Team Development: Work closely with engineering teams to foster a collaborative environment and support personal and professional growth. Stakeholder Liaison: Serve as the main point of contact across various departments (Business Development, Production, Customer Support) to ensure projects are on track and aligned with stakeholder needs. Process Improvement: Help implement new tools, processes, and efficiencies within the department to enhance productivity and meet key performance indicators (KPIs). External Collaboration: Manage relationships with contractors, external design houses, and subcontractors to ensure quality and on-time delivery of project milestones. Who We’re Looking For: Experience: Previous experience in a project management or line management role within engineering, ideally in a smaller or mid-sized business. This role is also open to candidates who may be newer to management but have a strong desire to grow into the role. Technical Insight: A solid understanding of engineering principles and technical requirements, particularly within an ISO 9001 environment. Leadership Potential: Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage resources, action plans, and risk assessments effectively. A passion for leadership and team development is key. Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Qualifications: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (or equivalent experience). AMP, Prince2, or similar certification is advantageous. Clearance: British citizenship or eligibility for UK security clearance is required. Why Join ECS?
