Managing Quantity Surveyor

Managing Quantity Surveyor required by independent, multi-disciplinary Civil Engineering contractor. Our client, with a turnover in excess of £100 million, delivers civil engineering contracts across the South West, with values typically between £3 million - £8 million. This specific role will be working on the Wessex Water AMP 8 framework on projects located along the A303 between Yeovil and Ringwood. Initially you will be involved in developing the relationship with the client and assisting the estimators with the pricing of the tenders and as the framework team expands you will move into a more traditional MQS role managing and mentoring a team of QS’s on multiple projects that are running currently. As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will: Maintain accurate records, control and reconcile costs and value, report variances against agreed performance, compliance and finance targets. Lead the commercial team and work closely with the Framework Manager. Take control of change management. Be involved in a review of current procedures and processes and assist in the implementation of new and revised processes where required. Be responsible for developing a busy commercial team, supporting all members with their own development and progression. Responsible for all pre and post contract duties. Draft and negotiate NEC forms of contract. Identify and mitigate commercial risks. Our client requires a Managing Quantity Surveyor with: Previous experience of working for a Civil Engineering contractor Strong commercial awareness and acumen. Knowledge of NEC form of contracts (particularly Option C) Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying. Salary/Benefits: Up to £85,000 per annum Company car or car allowance (£625 p/month) Pension, healthcare, holidays etc
