Job Description

AJ Chambers are working with a SRA-regulated professional services firm that specialises in working with high potential SMEs. They are looking for an experience Paralegal to support the Head of Litigation and IP. The Legal Department supports the clients as part of a commercial, collaborative and diverse team. The successful candidate will assist with a wide range of contentious matters, spanning commercial law, intellectual property and art law. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual who is eager to work on complex and unique matters. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Assist with court preparations such as case bundles, instructions to Counsel and general case management. • Draft court-related documentation, such as pre-action correspondence, pleadings and witness statements. • Manage litigation timelines and ensure compliance with procedural deadlines. • Manage client communications, ensuring updates and queries are handled promptly. • Liaise with external parties such as the court, opposing parties and third parties in relation to ongoing matters. • Conduct legal research as required and prepare research memoranda. • Prepare internal templates and update in line with changes in legislation, procedures and best practices. • Support in disputes involving trademarks, copyright and design rights. • Assist with IP portfolio management, including registrations, renewals and enforcement actions. • Maintain and organise case files, correspondence and documentation. • Monitor legal budgets and liaise with team where necessary. • Proof read documents. • Prepare meeting notes, reports and presentations for the Head of Litigation, IP & Art Law. • Provide general administrative support, including diary management and correspondence drafting SKILLS The ideal candidate will have 3 years of experience in a litigation department, who is looking to provide key support in a fast-paced and intellectually stimulating environment. • A UK law degree or equivalent qualification. • Paralegal certificate preferred. • Completed Legal Practice Course (or conversion equivalent), having undertaken a litigation and/or commercial module. • Exceptional writing that is clear and concise, uses proper grammar, appropriate vocabulary and demonstrates exceptional attention to detail. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with clients and stakeholders. • Experience in all stages of litigation, including intake, discovery and trial. • Strong knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and Practice Directions. • Experience in all stages of litigation, including intake, preparation for disclosure, drafting witness statements, dealing with experts and applications, and attending CMCs, hearings and trials. • Experience with court and administrative agency filings, including electronic or e-filings. • Experience in, or knowledge of, ADR strategies and dispute resolution. • Ability to plan, prioritise and organise caseload with limited supervision. • Proficiency in legal research tools, including Practical Law. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to ability to compare and merge document, use fields and advanced tools, use track changes and format documents. • Highly organised (fast-paced and varied role), including the ability to work concurrently on a variety of matters with changing priorities. • Experience in, or knowledge of, intellectual property and art law is highly desirable but not required. The role will offer hybrid working of 2 days in the office and 3 from home. Highly competitive salary and benefits package on offer aswell.
