Network Engineer - Datacenter

Job Overview : We are looking for a Level 2 Network Engineer with strong expertise in Data Centre environments, specifically handling Cisco Nexus devices (Nexus 7k, Nexus 9k series) and Routing & Switching. The candidate will play a critical role in managing, troubleshooting, and supporting network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance. Exposure to Cisco ACI (Application Centric Infrastructure) is a plus. Key Responsibilities : - Manage and maintain Cisco Nexus devices, including Nexus 7k, 9k series, and other Data Centre switches. - Monitor and troubleshoot routing and switching issues in large-scale Data Centre environments. - Provide Level 2 support for escalated incidents, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and resolve complex network issues. Routing & Switching : - Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to network LAN/WAN connectivity, routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), and switching technologies (VLANs, STP, VPC). - Support the deployment and maintenance of high-performance networks. - Perform configurations, upgrades, and patch management of network devices. Cisco ACI (Good to Have) : - Assist with Cisco ACI fabric setup, policy creation, and troubleshooting. - Support ACI-based application network deployment. - Work with the team to integrate ACI with existing Data Centre infrastructure. Monitoring and Optimization : - Monitor network performance using tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, or similar network monitoring solutions. - Identify performance bottlenecks and recommend improvements for optimization. Documentation : - Maintain detailed documentation for network configurations, changes, and incident resolutions. - Create runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and SOPs for Data Centre and network operations. Collaboration : - Coordinate with other IT teams to ensure smooth operations of applications and systems dependent on the network. - Work closely with vendors and Level 3 teams for advanced troubleshooting and issue escalation. Required Skills & Experience : Core Skills : - Strong experience in Routing & Switching, with a focus on Cisco Nexus switches (7k, 9k, or similar Data Centre series). - Hands-on experience with routing protocols like OSPF, EIGRP, BGP. - Solid understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts, including VLANs, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), VPC (Virtual Port Channels), and HSRP/VRRP.
