What the Job Involves Your role involves working within the Monmouthshire CC Highways Operations team to ensure public safety by maintaining the highway network of South East Wales. Responsibilities include conducting a variety of highway maintenance tasks such as potholing, general drainage maintenance, cleaning, litter picking, and working with bituminous materials. You will also engage in general fencing, grass cutting, basic masonry, and concrete/paving work alongside other similar duties. The role requires operating small plant tools and a wheeled loading shovel, carrying out basic work positioning, and adhering to health and safety legislation. You'll maintain work records, handle basic health and safety evaluations, participate in winter maintenance duties, and potentially direct other operatives. It's essential to contribute to the service improvement goals of the Monmouthshire highways operations team while ensuring courteous interaction with the public.
