Mainframe Developer - DB2/JCL/COBOL

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mainframe Developer to join our dynamic team in Chennai. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 7 years of experience in designing, developing, and maintaining mainframe applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions that meet business and technical requirements. Job Role : Mainframe Developer Experience : 3-7 Years Location : Chennai Key Responsibilities : - Design, develop, and implement mainframe-based applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS. - Perform debugging, testing, and deployment of new modules or enhancements. - Ensure compliance with coding standards, performance optimization, and documentation. - Analyze business and technical requirements to design and develop scalable solutions. - Provide technical guidance and recommendations for system improvements. - Create and update technical documentation, including design specifications and process flows. - Perform root cause analysis for production issues and resolve them in a timely manner. - Provide ongoing support and maintenance for existing mainframe applications. - Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize and address system improvements and bug fixes. - Work closely with business analysts, quality assurance teams, and end-users to gather requirements and ensure alignment with business goals. - Participate in project planning, estimation, and execution activities. - Provide regular updates on progress, risks, and challenges to project leads and managers. - Optimize mainframe application performance to improve response time and reduce resource utilization. - Implement best practices for coding, data retrieval, and storage. - Ensure that all applications adhere to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and security protocols. - Perform regular audits and reviews to ensure data integrity and confidentiality. Required Skills : - Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM. - Experience with tools like Endevor, File-AID, Abend-AID, and Xpediter. - Strong understanding of mainframe batch processing and online transaction processing. - In-depth knowledge of DB2 database concepts, including SQL query optimization and performance tuning. - Strong analytical and debugging skills. - Ability to handle complex technical challenges and propose effective solutions. - Certification in mainframe technologies or relevant areas is desirable. Preferred Qualifications : - Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies. - Familiarity with modernization and migration of legacy mainframe applications. - Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools in the mainframe environment.
