1 to 1 Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant and inclusive primary school in Telford. This role focuses on providing tailored support to a KS1 pupil with SLD, helping them to achieve their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 support to a KS1 child with Severe Learning Difficulties, both in and out of the classroom. Implement personalised learning plans under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator). Use creative and adaptive approaches to engage the child in learning activities and support their development. Support the child's emotional and social needs, fostering confidence and independence. Assist with personal care tasks as required, ensuring the child's comfort and dignity. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure consistent and effective support. Maintain accurate records of the child's progress and contribute to review meetings. Person Specification: Essential: Experience working with children with Severe Learning Difficulties or similar needs. A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting children with additional needs. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. A proactive attitude and the ability to adapt to the child's changing needs. Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality in a school setting. Desirable: Relevant qualifications in Special Educational Needs or Teaching Assistance (e.g., CACHE Level 3, NVQ, or equivalent). Training in areas such as Makaton, PECS, or sensory integration.
