About the role: We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a warm and welcoming school in Hammersmith and Fulham. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), including those who are non-verbal.As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and SEN specialists to support children in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential. You will provide one-on-one and small-group support, adapt learning materials, and assist with communication strategies. Experience with PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) or Makaton is highly beneficial but not essential. Application Requirements: • Prior experience supporting children with ASD is highly desirable. • Knowledge of SEN strategies, including PECS or Makaton, is advantageous. • A proactive, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting children with diverse needs. • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply). • Eligibility to work in the UK. Key Responsibilities: • Provide tailored support to students with ASD, adapting activities to their individual needs. • Utilise strategies to support non-verbal students, helping them express themselves and engage with their peers. • Work collaboratively with teachers and SEN staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs). • Assist in maintaining a safe, positive, and stimulating learning environment. • Encourage independence, social skills, and confidence in students.
