Job Description

Context: We are currently partnered with a highly regarded General Contractor with a multi $billion turnover, has over 2000 employees nationwide with locations & offices across the nation. Working with their Mission Critical department of which is quickly evolving, we are searching for a Chief Estimator to head up the entire estimating efforts for the department. Responsibilities: Team Leadership: Assign and balance Estimating team workloads. Drive bid strategies and create efficient estimating tools. Track departmental success and manage the estimating budget. Coach and develop staff, conducting reviews and growth plans. Cost and Pricing Expertise: Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and labor estimates. Organize material/labor data and verify pricing with subcontractors. Monitor market trends and refine cost strategies. Bid Oversight: Review and deliver bids on time, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness. Oversee subcontractor selection, scopes, and bid-day closeouts. Collaborate with senior management on preconstruction fees and bid results. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field. 10 years in estimating mission-critical projects. Strong skills in quantity takeoffs, construction documents, and cost strategies. Proficiency in Excel, Word, and estimating tools. Expertise in reviewing blueprints and conceptual documents to ensure accurate cost capture. This role demands strategic thinking, market awareness, and the ability to refine bids for competitive advantage while mentoring a high-performing team.
