SEN Teaching Assistant - Oxford Location: North Hinksey Start Date: ASAP January 2025 Contract Type: Full-time, Long Term Salary: £83.50 - £90 per day The Primary School: A local Primary based in North Hinksey, Oxford is recruiting for their next SEN Teaching Assistant - Oxford. You will provide high-quality education and care to students with complex needs in mainstream education. The pupils' needs, range from early years (EYFS) to 11 year olds - with mild to severe learning difficulties, autism, and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). The school are passionate about empowering their EYFS - KS2 pupils to reach their full potential in an environment that celebrates diversity, inclusion, and growth. The SEN Teaching Assistant - Oxford Role: The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant - Oxford will be compassionate, dedicated, and resilient and will be available to start the role ASAP and will delay a start for the right candidate. In this role, you will work closely with teaching staff to support students in their academic, social, and personal development, ensuring that they receive the tailored support they need to thrive. Key responsibilities include: Supporting individual students or small groups with a range of SEN, including complex needs and PMLD. Assisting with classroom activities, ensuring that students are engaged and working towards their personalised goals. Providing emotional and behavioural support, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to implement specific learning and behavioural strategies. Assisting with personal care needs as required, ensuring the comfort and well-being of the students. Keeping records of students' progress, supporting assessments, and contributing to reports and reviews. About You: We are seeking an individual who is: Experienced or passionate about working with students with complex needs, including autism and PMLD. Patient, empathetic, and able to build strong, trusting relationships with students. Flexible and willing to adapt to the unique needs of each student. Able to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with other professionals. Enthusiastic about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs. A strong communicator, both with students and with other staff. Desirable Qualifications & Experience: Experience working in a similar role within an SEN setting. A relevant qualification such as Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or Support worker or phycology Knowledge and understanding of autism and PMLD.
