Job Description

Job Title: OHS Administrator Salary: Market-related Location: Paarden Eiland Company Overview: Import and export of seafood products Job Purpose: The OHS Administrator will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards across multiple sites. This role involves inspections, monitoring compliance, and addressing all OHS-related queries and incidents. The position requires the ability to manage OHS activities across more than one site as needed. Working Conditions: Contract Type: Permanent (6-month probationary period) Working Hours: Shifts from 08:00 17:00 and 17:00 02:00 (hours may fluctuate due to operational requirements). Weekends and overtime may be required depending on business needs. Requirements: Education: Matric Health & Safety Qualification: SAMTRAC or equivalent preferred Experience: 3-5 years of OHS experience Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Key Attributes: Strong attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision Ability to multitask and work under pressure Time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines High levels of honesty, integrity, and confidentiality Must have own transport to travel between sites Key Responsibilities: OHS Protocols & Compliance Full responsibility for the implementation and maintenance of OHS protocols. Ensure adherence to Food Safety program requirements. Ensure legal compliance for all OHS aspects. Ensure that OHS policies and processes are consistently executed across all sites. Training & Certification Manage and arrange OHS and machine handling-related training for employees. Ensure all OHS-related certificates are valid and up to date. Medical & PPE Management Arrange all medical screenings required for staff. Oversee PPE requirements, issues, registers, and ordering processes. Documentation & Filing Maintain and organize all OHS-related paperwork, ensuring proper filing and distribution. Conduct regular reviews and updates of OHS filing systems. Draft and issue notices related to OHS protocols and incidents. Incident Investigation & Risk Management Conduct investigations into accidents and incidents, providing recommendations for improvements. Develop and maintain emergency plans for various business activities. Supplier Management Vet suppliers in relation to OHS practices, including ensuring proper H&S files, COIDA, and letters of good standing are in place. Manage OHS supplier accounts and obtain quotes as needed. Registers & Inspections Maintain registers and inspection lists, including for portable electrical equipment, ladders, pressure vessels, and sanitary equipment. Conduct regular inspections to ensure safety standards are met. Meetings & Communication Conduct weekly meetings with OHS marshals and coordinate action points. Take minutes of OHS meetings and follow up on tasks as needed. Maintain strong communication across all levels of staff regarding OHS matters.
