Director of Strategic Design & BD Location: London – Hybrid The Opportunity: The UK’s leading Technology and Design Consultancy seeks an influential Director of Design Strategy & Business Development to direct presales and sales initiatives in the Automotive and Banking sectors. The Role: Drive growth by identifying opportunities and building authentic, long-lasting relationships with new and existing clients. You'll be the one who sees challenges before they arise, creates innovative solutions, and develops pitches that turn prospects into partners. From the first conversation to the final handshake, you’ll own the entire journey, ensuring clients not only see the value you're offering but feel it in everything you do. However, this isn't just a sales role but a strategic leadership position that will require you to dig deep into client needs, frame complex issues, and break them down into actionable insights. Facilitating workshops, sparking fresh ideas, and guiding clients from vision to execution. Managing the pipeline and forging strong networks internally and externally will be part of your daily rhythm. You’ll also have a seat at the table when it comes to shaping the future of the company’s Automotive and Banking offerings, collaborating with industry experts to make sure the team are always in sync with the bigger picture and moving towards strategic goals. Key Requirements: Proven success in presales, sales, and delivering winning Design RFx proposals in consultancy or agency settings. Strong industry knowledge in automotive and banking, with insights into leveraging design to meet sector needs. Experience in building client relationships, acquiring design projects, and collaborating with sales teams. Leadership in large design programs, spanning strategy, concept development, and agile digital product delivery. Ability to communicate innovative ideas and transform them into actionable plans to address complex challenges. Passion for systemic, analytical, and pragmatic design approaches, with a keen interest and hands-on experience in emerging technologies (e.g., AI, AR/VR, voice assistants). Commitment to quality with a track record of maintaining high standards. Collaborative mindset with confidence in engaging senior stakeholders, including CxO-level executives.
