SEN Teaching Assistant - ASD

Your new company Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a well-established SEND school in Chester that supports pupils with a multi-diagnosis of ASD, non-verbal and learning difficulties/disabilities as they are looking to appoint motivated and reliable teaching assistants from January. This school is looking to appoint on a full-time and part-time basis, meaning flexible working options will be available. Your new role As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting pupils with complex SEN on a 1:1 basis. You will have the full support of an experienced team of teachers and multidisciplinary educational professionals, and you will play a vital part in the pupils' access to education. You will take a pupil-centred approach to education to ensure that the pupils' individual needs, educational requirements and emotional state are met in a safe and inclusive learning environment. As you will be supporting complex SEN you will be required to implement a myriad of behaviour management strategies including traffic light systems, de-escalation and distraction. Other duties will include but may not be limited to Makaton/PECs to communicate, interventions, boosters, assisted toileting, general supervision during break and lunch times.
