Job Summary: Works together with students and staff to develop a program for their leisure time.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Supervises all recreation/non-vocational staff activity ensuring that students receive instruction in the safety aspects of all activities, e.g., drown proofing. Conducts in-service staff training session.
- Plans and arranges for all on-center activities, to include provision for cultural activities, arts and crafts, sports, and games.
- Maintains recreation/non-vocational supplies and equipment, and orders replacements as necessary.
- Submits timely reports on recreation/non-vocational activities.
- Manage monthly department budget and order supplies (cleaning and function) for the department.
- Formulates and recommends new or revised recreation/non-vocational programs to the Social Development Director.
- Ensures that all programs comply with DOL requirements.
- Make community contacts with directors of recreational facilities to create positive partnerships/ linkages and develop rapport.
- Attends required staff training sessions.
- Facilitates staff and student meetings / groups as required
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum: Associate of Arts degree or related field. Two years' experience in supervising recreation/non vocational programs, including athletics, sports and crafts, music, and drama.
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in physical education or Sports Management.
Knowledge: Must possess a valid State driver's license. Ability to obtain a CDL if required. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Working knowledge of various recreation/vocational student population. Ability to inspire students and staff.
