Job Description

Rossgro Group, a leader in integrated agricultural operations, situated in Delmas, Mpumalanga, is seeking a highly skilled Group Operations Manager to oversee and optimize operations across its diverse business units, including egg production and animal feed milling operations. This role encompasses managing day-to-day operations, logistics, and supply chains, with a strong emphasis on process optimization, cost reduction, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Operational Strategy & Management: Develop and implement strategies to optimize operations across all business units, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Lead initiatives to improve workflow, resource utilization, and overall efficiency in line with key performance indicators (KPIs). Coordinate operational activities across departments to ensure seamless integration of processes. Oversee the logistics function by providing guidance to warehouse managers in terms of optimising transportation schedules, routes, and load capacities to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery. Collaborate with stakeholders to reduce costs, improve lead times, and enhance overall supply chain performance. Team Leadership & Development: Manage and mentor operations managers and department heads, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Oversee training programs to enhance team capabilities and performance. Conduct performance evaluations and implement strategies for talent retention and development. Process Improvement & Efficiency: Identify and implement best practices in operational and supply chain management to maximize efficiency and service levels. Leverage data analytics and ERP systems to identify bottlenecks and optimize processes. Lead the adoption of new technologies to streamline operations. Budgeting & Financial Management: Assist in developing budgets, ensuring cost control and alignment with financial goals. Monitor expenditures, recommend cost-saving measures, and optimize resource allocation. Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies. Mitigate operational risks and implement contingency plans to ensure business continuity. Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Serve as the primary liaison with suppliers, vendors, and external partners regarding operational matters. Negotiate contracts and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure service delivery excellence. Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and present reports on operational performance, logistics metrics, and process improvements to executive team. Use data-driven insights to guide strategic decisions and operational adjustments. Human Resources Oversight: Assist in recruitment and onboarding of operational staff. Verify payroll accuracy and oversee HR-related processes, including disciplinary actions and union negotiations. Conduct regular meetings to ensure HR policies and employee relations align with business goals. Equipment Management and Maintenance: Oversee procurement, installation, and maintenance of equipment for all business units. Develop preventive maintenance schedules and ensure compliance with safety standards. Monitor equipment performance and implement strategies to extend asset lifecycles. The ideal candidate will bring extensive leadership experience, industry knowledge, and the ability to drive strategic initiatives in a dynamic and complex environment. Qualifications Education: Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, or related fields. Experience: 5 years of leadership experience in operations management, with a strong focus on agriculture, FMCG, or integrated supply chains. Proven track record of managing cross-functional teams. Skills & Competencies: Deep understanding of agricultural operations, supply chains, and commodity markets. Expertise in logistics management and fleet optimization. Proficiency in ERP systems, data analytics, and MS Office (Excel proficiency is essential). Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage budgets, reduce costs, and drive operational efficiency.
