Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our educational team, supporting a KS1 child with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The role involves providing tailored support to help the child thrive academically, socially, and emotionally in a positive learning environment. This position is full-time, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for mentoring children, particularly those with special educational needs, and will work closely with teachers to enhance the learning experience and overall development of the child.
Duties
* Provide one-on-one support to a KS1 child with SEMH needs, implementing strategies to meet their individual educational and emotional requirements.
* Assist teachers in delivering educational content and activities tailored to the child’s learning objectives.
* Implement and adapt Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the teaching team.
* Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment, encouraging the child’s engagement and participation.
* Communicate effectively with the child, parents, and staff to ensure a cohesive support system.
* Mentor the child, encouraging their personal growth and helping them develop essential life and social skills.
* Monitor progress and behaviour, providing regular feedback to teachers and contributing to planning and adjustments as needed.
* Support the child during transitions and unstructured times, helping to maintain a sense of routine and security.
Experience
* Previous experience working with children, particularly in supporting those with SEMH or special educational needs, is highly desirable.
* Familiarity with strategies for managing challenging behaviours and promoting emotional resilience.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills for building positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
* A genuine passion for working with children and helping them achieve their potential.
