Residential Support Worker – Children's Home (Loughborough)
Location: Loughborough, Leicestershire
Hours: Full-time, shift work (including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins)
Contract: Permanent
About the Role:
We are looking for compassionate, dedicated, and resilient individuals to join our team as Residential Support Workers at our children's home in Loughborough. In this rewarding role, you will provide support, guidance, and a safe, nurturing environment for children and young people who have experienced trauma or need additional care and support.
As a Residential Support Worker, you will be responsible for helping to promote the emotional, social, and educational development of the children and young people in our care. You will be a positive role model, supporting their individual needs while always ensuring their safety and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide day-to-day care and support for children and young people within the residential setting.
* Build positive and trusting relationships with the children and act as a role model, encouraging their personal growth and development.
* Assist with daily routines, including mealtimes, education, activities, and ensuring the home is a safe and supportive place.
* Support children in managing their behaviour and emotions, using a child-centred approach and positive behaviour strategies.
* Liaise with social workers, teachers, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to care planning.
* Maintain accurate records and reports, including daily logs, progress notes, and incident reports.
* Participate in regular training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
What We’re Looking For:
* Previous experience working with children or young people in a care or support role is preferred but not essential (full training will be provided).
* A genuine passion for working with children and making a positive impact in their lives.
* The ability to manage challenging behaviours with patience, empathy, and professionalism.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
* Flexibility to work on a shift pattern that includes evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
* A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards this) is desirable.
