The Role:
As a Key Stage 3/4 English Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching and inspiring students in their English studies, focusing on their individual needs and strengths. You will provide a tailored curriculum that encourages a love for literature and language, while using therapeutic teaching approaches to support students with their emotional and social well-being. This role offers a chance to build strong, supportive relationships with students, helping them to grow academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, deliver, and assess English lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, ensuring they are engaging, inclusive, and appropriately differentiated for our students.
Create a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment where students feel valued and confident in their ability to succeed.
Use a therapeutic, individualized approach to teaching, adapting strategies to meet the emotional and academic needs of each student.
Encourage students to explore their creativity through reading, writing, and speaking, fostering a love for English in all forms.
Provide regular feedback on student progress and well-being, working closely with parents, carers, and other staff to ensure consistent support.
Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement personalized learning plans, ensuring every student is supported to achieve their full potential.
Actively participate in the wider school community, contributing to school events, extracurricular activities, and professional development.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in English or a related field.
Experience teaching English at Key Stage 3 and 4, ideally in a SEN or therapeutic setting, or a strong desire to learn and adapt.
An understanding of the challenges faced by students with emotional and social difficulties, and a passion for using creative and therapeutic approaches to engage them.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
Patience, empathy, and a flexible approach to teaching, with a focus on the well-being and personal growth of students.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to differentiate and adapt lessons to meet the individual needs of students.
A commitment to creating an inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environment for all students.
