Job Title: Deputy Manager
Job Purpose
As the Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the care home. Your primary focus will be maintaining high standards of care and ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements. Working alongside our experienced Registered Manager (Nurse-Qualified), you will provide clinical leadership, manage the team, and ensure that our residents receive person-centred care that meets their individual needs.
Working Hours
This role requires flexibility, as it is not a traditional 9-5 position. Out-of-hours work is necessary to provide continuous management coverage and to ensure the smooth operation of the home. You will also be expected to be on call on a week-on-week-off basis.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
Assist in the management of the care home, ensuring it operates in accordance with CQC standards and relevant regulations.
Act as the Registered Manager in their absence, maintaining consistent care and service quality.
Lead and motivate the clinical team, fostering a positive culture based on respect, compassion, and professional development.
Clinical Oversight
Provide expert clinical guidance to staff, ensuring the delivery of evidence-based care.
Oversee care plans, risk assessments, and medication management to meet the needs of residents.
Support the team with complex cases, providing hands-on support and intervention where necessary.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
Assist in preparing for CQC inspections and implement action plans for any areas requiring improvement.
Ensure accurate and up-to-date maintenance of records, policies, and procedures.
Participate in audits and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Resident and Family Engagement
Build strong relationships with residents, their families, and other stakeholders to ensure their voices are heard and respected.
Support residents' emotional and mental well-being, encouraging activities and interventions to enhance their quality of life.
Training and Development
Mentor and train staff, particularly in mental health care and managing complex conditions.
Organise and deliver training sessions to promote best practices and ensure compliance with care standards.
Qualifications and Experience
Registered Nurse with valid NMC PIN.
Extensive knowledge and experience in mental health care, preferably within a care home or similar setting.
Proven leadership and management experience in a mental healthcare environment.
Experience in supervising junior staff.
Expert knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and the Mental Health Act (MHA).
Strong understanding of CQC regulations.
