SEND Teaching Assistant
Temporary
Sheffield
Pay - £420 - £445 per week
Start date: 6th January 2025 – December 2025
The Role and School
This role will be in a supportive and inclusive school based in Sheffield, dedicated to providing high-quality education for children aged 11 to 19 with a wide range of complex needs such as autism spectrum disorders, severe learning difficulties, sensory processing issues, physical disabilities, speech and language impairments, emotional and behavioural disorders, and health conditions that impact learning. The school prides itself on fostering a nurturing environment where every child is valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in implementing individualised education plans and adapting activities to meet the diverse learning requirements of each student. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include assisting with lesson preparations, setting up engaging learning environments, and providing both one-on-one and group support during various activities. You will help manage classroom behaviour with positive reinforcement strategies and provide additional guidance to pupils who require extra support, ensuring they feel included and motivated.
Requirements
The desired SEND Teaching Assistant will have.
Experience with SEND: Previous experience working with children with special needs.
Continuing Professional Development: Commitment to ongoing training and development in SEND
Patience and Empathy: Understanding and compassionate approach to support.
Adaptability: Ability to adjust support based on individual student needs.
