The Opportunity
Our client is one of the largest Engineering consultancies in the UK. They are currently searching for a PLC/SCADA Software Testing Engineer to join their team and work on some of their latest projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your engineering experience and skills, moving towards the capability to move to a more senior role and towards professional qualification as desired.
This role is offered on an initial 12-month contract, Inside IR35. You will be based out of our client’s office in North Cumbria and will be able to work on a hybrid basis. This role has come about due to an increasing portfolio of projects.
Please note: Due to the nature of our client’s work, we are unable to consider candidates who require VISA sponsorship now, or in the future. Further, you must be eligible for baseline UK Security Clearance.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
As a PLC/SCADA Engineer, you will Carry out testing of the PLC/SCADA code produced by others.
Carry out commissioning activities at client site as required, to ensure successful engineering handover.
Ensure that work complies with all necessary corporate, departmental and legislative requirements and procedures.
To ensure that the necessary consistency and quality of delivery is maintained.
Recognise and address potential and actual cross-discipline issues and conflicts.
Plan and prioritise own work to ensure that functional project requirements are on scope, time and cost are met.You will have the following qualifications & experience
Degree qualified in appropriate discipline.
PLC/SCADA knowledge.
Substantial relevant experience, typically at least 3-4 years of experience in relevant project design work.
Able to produce, check, and provide technical oversight of CE&I key deliverables documents / reports, calculations, schedules, drawings etc.
Familiarity and experience of working and complying with applicable Sellafield practices, standards, and engineering guides.It’s great if you also have the following
Previous experience of working with existing Sellafield plants / brown field sites is important, but not essential.
Able to work collaboratively with other disciplines, stakeholders, and the wider project team.
Capable of producing and being accountable for their own effective time management, planning activities, task estimates and progress reporting.
Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.The setting for the role
Risks and Hazards are in line with working on a nuclear licenced site. These can include, nuclear fuel, radiation, chemicals and gasses, high voltage equipment, moving vehicles, flammable materials, high pressure circuits, steam, high noise and vibration levels. A full site induction will be provided and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the site.
