Senior / Principal Rotating Equipment Engineer – Renfrew Based
Altrad Major Projects business is expanding in Scotland. We need a Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer with Rotating Equipment expertise in FEED and industry standards (API / ASME / ISO / ANSI) to support this growth in our design office.
The appointed Engineer will have expertise in Mechanical Engineering projects for Rotating & Packaged Equipment to coordinate the integration of mechanical designs with engineering disciplines and manage vendors to achieve project deliverables within budget and on schedule whilst complying with health, safety, environmental, and security requirements.

What will you be doing?
You will work independently and collaborate with a high-performing team, applying engineering principles and knowledge of regulations, codes and industry standards to complete varying assignments including mechanical design calculations, and developing specifications and datasheets for all types of mechanical equipment.
As technical authority for rotating equipment, you will provide expert guidance in the design, selection, performance optimisation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of rotating machinery such as pumps, compressors, turbines, and motors.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of industry standards (API / ASME / ISO / ANSI)
You will also:
- Support the standardisation of equipment specifications, drawings and document templates.
- Drive continuous improvement of engineering standards and practices within the organisation.
- You will undertake checking, peer reviews and incorporating comments for engineering deliverables.
- Demonstrate strong project management and decision-making skills to manage multiple workloads and assist the project management team with plans, project controls & reporting.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and management to deliver proposals, estimate costs, input to plans and develop execution strategies.
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build effective relationships and encourage feedback from others.
- Participate in reviews related to constructability, operability, and maintainability.
- Work with site personnel and provide on-site support for construction and commissioning.
So what do you need to be considered?
- Master’s or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in similar industries.
- Proven track record of successful Mechanical project delivery.
- In addition, we are looking for someone who has obtained or is working towards Chartered accreditation with the IMechE.
