Job Description
Job Title: Section Engineer
Location: Orkney
Project: Orkney Transmission Link
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Section Engineer to join an established team for the design and installation of a high voltage alternating current (HVAC) transmission system between Finstown in Orkney and Dounreay in Caithness. This system will be capable of transmitting at least 220MW of power.
Your Role: Based at the new substation in Finstown, Orkney. Accommodation and travel expenses will be covered by the contractor.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee engineering tasks, ensuring timely and budget-friendly completion.
Coordinate with project managers, site supervisors, and other engineering teams to streamline activities.
Develop and implement detailed engineering plans, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
Monitor and report on project progress, addressing any issues that arise.
Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and subcontractors to ensure smooth communication and project delivery.
Ensure all health, safety, and environmental policies are adhered to on-site.
Conduct regular site inspections and audits, maintaining high standards of quality control.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Proven experience as a Section Engineer or similar role, preferably within large-scale infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of construction processes, engineering principles, and project management.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools.
A valid CSCS card and relevant health and safety certifications.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
