Main Areas of Responsibility

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the implementation of the Behaviour for Learning Policy
  • The calm and purposeful entrance and exit of students into/out of and around the academy
  • Ensuring students are monitored and supervised before school, during break and throughout lunch
  • Managing late detentions
  • Ensuring that students enter the building in full academy uniform and if not, following agreed procedures
  • Ensuring that follow up action is taken for students failing to meet academy standards
  • Following through any behaviour issues, such as taking student statements regarding incidents and passing these on
  • Informally mentoring students on PSPs
  • Ensuring issues relating to student safety are passed on to academy colleagues, in a timely manner, for further investigation
  • Supervising students internally excluded or exited from lessons
  • Delivering the curriculum offer for the students attending the supervision room
  • Ensuring appropriate work is provided and appropriate provision is in place
  • Liaising with parents/carers and relevant staff to ensure smooth transition to and from internal exclusion
  • Being a role model for the students in the supervision room
  • Providing the students with very clear expectations of conduct, in line with those for all academy students, and ensuring action is taken when these are not met
  • Liaising with the Heads of House and Assistant Principals to support monitoring of students on behaviour and attendance/punctuality reports
  • Ensuring that designated students have up-to-date report cards and that completed cards are filled appropriately
  • Keeping records of poor punctuality and organising late detentions
  • Carrying out administrative tasks
  • Assisting the academy Leadership Group in maintaining the highest standards of attendance and punctuality to lessons
  • Overseeing the registration of students who are late to the academy

Qualifications & Experience

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of behaviour for learning policies
  • Knowledge of the range of barriers to learning that students face
  • Training in child protection and safeguarding procedures
  • Basic knowledge of first aid e.g. emergency first aid course
  • Two years' experience of working in an inner city school or educational establishment
  • Experience of dealing successfully with a range of behaviour issues
  • Experience of working with staff to ensure excellent behaviour for learning
  • Experience of working with families
  • Experience of supervising a group of students for detentions, referral and internal exclusion as appropriate
  • Experience of working with challenging students and finding ways in which we can meet their needs more successfully
