Job Tittle : Azure Migration Specialist - Application & Infrastructure Experience : 5 to 10 years Department : Cloud Services / Azure Migration Job Overview : We are looking for an experienced Azure Migration Specialist to join our cloud transformation team. This role is responsible for leading and managing application and infrastructure migration projects to Azure, ensuring successful lift-and-shift migrations, as well as planning and executing the transformation of enterprise applications to the cloud. You will be working closely with application teams, architects, and engineers to assess, plan, and execute migration strategies, with a focus on optimizing the transition to Azure cloud. Key Responsibilities : - Application Intake & Assessment : Collaborate with business and technical teams to intake applications for migration, assess application readiness, and evaluate their compatibility with Azure environments. - Migration Planning & Coordination : Lead and coordinate the migration planning process, ensuring timelines, resources, and dependencies are carefully managed. This includes the development of detailed migration plans, risk assessments, and communication strategies. - Source & Target Architecture Planning : Work closely with application architects to define source (on-premises) and target (Azure) architecture for applications, databases, and infrastructure. Ensure the proper alignment with Azure best practices for scalability, performance, and security. - Azure Infrastructure & Resource Provisioning : Manage the provisioning and configuration of Azure resources (e.g., Virtual Networks, Storage, VMs, Databases) in preparation for the migration. Work to ensure that all necessary infrastructure is in place before and after migration. - Lift-and-Shift Migration : Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of Lift-and-Shift migrations for applications and virtual machines (VMs) from on-premises or other cloud environments to Azure. Ensure minimal downtime and disruption during migration. - Clean Deployment Migrations : For applications requiring more complex migrations (beyond Lift-and-Shift), assist in the clean deployment to Azure, ensuring applications are re-architected for optimal cloud performance. - Azure Migrate Tools : Leverage Azure Migrate and other tools to assess, plan, and execute the migration of workloads and applications to Azure. Provide ongoing support and optimization during the migration process. - Post-Migration Support : Provide ongoing support for migrated applications and infrastructure, ensuring the performance, security, and cost optimization of migrated workloads. Troubleshoot issues post-migration and perform necessary adjustments to configurations. - Documentation & Reporting : Maintain detailed documentation for all migration activities, including architecture planning, risk mitigation strategies, timelines, and migration outcomes. Provide regular status reports to leadership and stakeholders. - Collaboration : Work closely with project managers, solution architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure all migration activities are executed according to the defined timelines and best practices. Candidate Requirements : - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator) are highly desirable. - 5-10 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, migration planning, and execution, with at least 3 years focused on Azure migrations and infrastructure. - Proven experience with Azure Migration tools, including Azure Migrate, Azure Site Recovery, and related tools for VM migration, database migration, and cloud infrastructure provisioning. - Experience in planning, architecting, and executing Lift-and-Shift migrations and clean deployments to Azure. - Familiarity with Azure Resource Manager (ARM), Virtual Machines (VMs), Azure Storage, Azure Networking, and other key Azure services. - Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and manage complex migration projects. - Knowledge of cloud cost optimization practices and Azure best practices for cloud security, scalability, and performance. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address migration challenges. - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment, with experience managing stakeholders and expectations. Desired Skills : - Experience with automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, ARM templates, Azure CLI) to streamline migration processes. - Familiarity with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines for post-migration optimization and automation. - Experience in multi-cloud environments or hybrid cloud migrations. - Experience in application refactoring or re-architecting for the cloud is a plus. Additional Information : - The role will involve direct engagement with key business and technical stakeholders to ensure migrations align with overall enterprise goals. - You will be expected to stay updated with Azure's latest features and best practices to continuously improve the migration process. - Ideal candidates will possess a strong passion for cloud technologies, have proven experience in large-scale Azure migrations, and be proactive problem-solvers who can guide clients through complex migration processes.
