Senior Director - Communications (Relocation Opportunity to Dubai, Bahrain or Riyadh)
Job Overview:
The Senior Director of Communications will play a critical leadership role in shaping and executing high-impact communication strategies for a government advisory firm. This role requires extensive experience in public sector communications, deep knowledge of government structures, and the ability to engage key stakeholders effectively. The Senior Director will lead teams, work closely with government clients, and manage reputation management, media relations, crisis communications, and public affairs to support government initiatives and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Communications Planning:
- Develop and oversee comprehensive communication strategies that align with client objectives and government priorities.
- Design multi-channel campaigns to communicate complex policy issues, governmental initiatives, and client services to diverse audiences, including the public, media, and internal stakeholders.
Government and Public Affairs:
- Serve as a liaison between the firm and government agencies, advising on public policy and managing communications around regulatory, legislative, and policy developments.
- Provide senior-level guidance to government clients on effective communication practices, crisis preparedness, and stakeholder engagement.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with high-level government officials, policy-makers, and influential stakeholders to advance client objectives.
Media Relations and Crisis Management:
- Lead media strategy and relationships, positioning the firm and its clients as trusted authorities in government advisory services.
- Act as spokesperson as needed, crafting responses to media inquiries and proactively managing media engagement, including during times of high scrutiny.
- Oversee crisis communications and issues management, developing responsive strategies and advising clients on communication protocols during sensitive situations.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Develop and implement stakeholder engagement plans, including events, roundtables, and forums to foster dialogue between clients and key decision-makers.
- Conduct ongoing analysis of stakeholder perceptions and communication trends to inform strategies and enhance public trust.
Content Development and Brand Messaging:
- Oversee the creation of high-quality content, including press releases, speeches, policy briefs, social media content, and thought leadership materials.
- Ensure messaging is aligned with client goals, is clear, and communicates complex issues in an accessible manner to various audience segments.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of communication professionals, ensuring high standards in project delivery and communication excellence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (policy, research, client management) to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to client services.
Measurement and Reporting:
- Track, analyze, and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Implement KPIs and measurement tools to assess communication impact and client satisfaction.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Public Policy, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 17-25 years in a senior communications role with a strong emphasis on government, public affairs, and advisory services.
- Sector Knowledge: Deep understanding of government structures, legislative processes, public policy, and regulatory environments.
