Engineering @ 365 Ltd is working with a well-established engineering organisation to recruit a skilled Furnace Technician. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking company that specialises in precision engineering and operates at the forefront of the industry.
The Role
As a Furnace Technician you will play a key role in maintaining and improving furnace reliability while overseeing the electrical team. You will lead calibration efforts, manage thermocouple programs, and ensure operational compliance through meticulous documentation. This role also involves leadership responsibilities, including planning workloads and supporting apprentice training.
Main Responsibilities:
* Daily monitoring of furnaces, ensuring proper operation and adherence to qualification specifications.
* Attend to and repair furnace faults promptly.
* Perform weekly system accuracy tests (SATS) on qualified furnaces and log results.
* Conduct monthly preventative maintenance checks on all furnaces.
* Plan and oversee furnace instrument calibration, including signing and maintaining calibration certificates.
* Manufacture, calibrate, and replace Type R and Type K thermocouples, maintaining detailed registers.
* Issue calibration certificates for surveyed furnaces and thermocouples, including details on placement, issue dates, and recalibration schedules.
* Maintain and manage all calibration records.
* Plan and supervise the workload of electricians and contractors, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
* Assist with apprentice training and long-term succession planning for the furnace engineering team.
* Deputise for the Maintenance Management Team as required.
* Attend weekly maintenance and departmental production meetings.
Person Specification:
Essential Skills/Qualifications:
* Proven experience in furnace operations and maintenance.
* Strong understanding of thermocouple calibration and instrumentation.
* Leadership experience with the ability to plan workloads and train apprentices.
* Proficiency in maintaining detailed records and compliance documentation.
* Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
Desirable Skills/Qualifications:
* Experience with electrical maintenance in an industrial setting.
* Familiarity with system accuracy tests and preventative maintenance schedules.
* Commitment to improving operational reliability and team performance.
Key Challenges:
