About The Role

Role: Support Worker ~ Location: Swansea ~ Hourly Rate: £11.60 - £12.00 (based on 39 hours per week, including (days and sleep-ins)

We are a leading organisation committed to providing exceptional care and support to young people who have experienced childhood trauma, struggle with mental health challenges, or both. At Rhos Cottage, we create a nurturing environment where young people can thrive, and we are looking for dedicated, energetic individuals to join our team.

But this isnt just any support worker roleits also an exciting opportunity to get involved in activities that young people love! The role requires an energetic individual who can engage with children and young people in active pursuits such as but not limited to:
  • Football: With a football pitch on-site, youll have the chance to join in and help young people stay active and have fun;
  • Fishing: Whether down by the lakes or on the beach, youll be supporting activities that take young people outdoors;
  • Swansea City Football: As a support worker, youll also accompany young people to Swansea Citys home games. This includes providing support for flag baring responsibilities while attending the matches, with seats reserved for staff. It's a great way to connect with the young people and be a positive influence.
A typical day in the life at Rhos Cottage is varied and fulfilling:
  • Supporting physical and emotional needs to ensure young people feel safe and cared for;
  • Being a positive role model and encouraging healthy choices;
  • Promoting independence by supporting a range of activities, such as social outings, work, and school-based tasks;
  • Adapting support to individual needs, including assisting with decision-making and problem-solving;
  • Maintaining accurate records of activities, progress, and any incidents;
  • General housekeeping duties, including meal preparation.
To succeed in this role, youll need:
  • A can-do attitude and the ability to stay positive even in challenging situations;
  • Resilience to work with young people who may have complex emotional and behavioural needs;
  • Previous care experience is helpful, but not essentialwhat matters most is your passion for supporting young people;
  • A valid drivers license and flexibility around shift times;
  • Compassion, empathy, and great communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Reliabilitybeing punctual and trustworthy is essential in this role.
Please note: This role involves regulated activity with children and requires an enhanced DBS with a barred list check.
