About the role

The plant controller is responsible for all day to day operations in the finance department, overseeing supply chain operations and managing production planning. You will be joining a small Padiham team who will support your role to their fullest. The role & responsibilities that fall within the role are ever changing due to the fast nature of the business, you will be required to grow & evolve as the business sees fit for the site.

What will I be doing?

  • Month-end closing activities, such as: account reconciliation, journal entry preparation and management reporting.
  • Year-end closing reporting such as: management reporting, audit compliance & performance analysis.
  • Highlight financial risks/opportunities to the plant manager along with weekly updates to the business.
  • Completion and delivery of divisional forecasts, budgets and cost reviews. Weekly, fortnightly & monthly.
  • Monitor & report all site KPI’s to the business & SLT.
  • Act as Business Advisor and Controller of all site related Costs.
  • Analyse & report sales performance & site productivity. Tracking customer contracts & rebate schedules.
  • Pricing, working with the central commercial team to overcome and foresee potential pricing issues.
  • Lead & Oversee all capital investment projects relevant to site.
  • Report & Sign off on the yearly budget.
  • Lead the supply chain network from end-to-end - from inbound materials to meeting customers delivery expectations.

What do I need to be successful?

These include:

  • Relevant Finance/Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience.
  • Experience or understanding of manufacturing (e.g., familiarity with production workflows, cost allocation in manufacturing, inventory management in a factory setting).
  • Ability and willingness to spend time on production floor; learn and understand manufacturing processes and products, fundamental understanding on plant and product costs.
  • Experienced in working with staff at all levels and working in a team-based office environment.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficient in SAP would be preferable.
  • Good presentation and written communication skills.
