Job Title: Year 6 SEMH Teacher (MPS or UPS)
Location: SEMH Provision
Where: London Borough of Lewisham
Job Type: Monday to Friday, Long Term Contract
Daily rate: £160 - £230 a day
Outstanding SEND Provision located in the London Borough of Lewisham is seeking a dedicated and experienced Year 6 Primary SEMH Teacher / Secondary trained SEMH Teacher. You will also be available to start a Monday to Friday position to commence in January 2025.
The Year 6 SEMH Teacher must have Qualified Teacher Status with strong skills in managing Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and challenging behaviour. This role involves creating and delivering engaging lessons tailored to the needs of Year 6 students, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Class sizes are small, typically between 5-6 children per class with Behaviour Support Staff.
Must have Qualified Teacher Status (either Primary or Secondary trained teacher)
Taught in either a SEMH School / PRU/ Alternative Provision/ Primary School OR a Secondary School
Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons that cater to the individual needs of students with SEMH and ASD.
Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students, ensuring they are regularly reviewed and updated.
Manage classroom behaviour effectively, using appropriate strategies to support students with challenging behaviours.
Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and learning.
Work collaboratively with support staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and reports to students, parents, and stakeholders.
Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in SEMH and ASD education.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, behaviour, and academic progress.
Ensure compliance with school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and health and safety guidelines.
