Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support educators at a school in Camden in providing a nurturing and effective learning environment for students. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, particularly those with autism or special educational needs. This role is essential in fostering an inclusive atmosphere where all students can thrive academically and socially.
Duties
- Assist teachers in delivering educational programmes and activities tailored to individual student needs.
- Support students with autism and other special educational requirements, ensuring they receive the necessary guidance and encouragement.
- Communicate effectively with students, helping them to understand instructions and engage with learning materials.
- Provide tutoring and mentoring to students, reinforcing lessons taught in class and aiding in their academic progress.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop lesson plans and adapt resources for diverse learners.
- Maintain a positive classroom environment, promoting respect, cooperation, and enthusiasm for learning.
- Monitor student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to educators on individual achievements and areas for improvement.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children, particularly those with autism or within special education settings is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, teachers, and parents.
- A passion for educating young people and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative when required.
- Patience, empathy, and adaptability to meet the varying needs of students throughout the school day.
- Relevant qualifications in education or child development would be advantageous but are not essential.
