Job Description

Who You Are



  • You hold an NVQ 2/3 in Health & Social Care or an equivalent qualification, with a good standard of education in subjects like GCSE English and Maths.

  • You possess a solid understanding of safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults while promoting their welfare.

  • You are IT literate and efficient in using Word, Excel, and in-house systems. Experience in the substance misuse field is essential for you, particularly in conducting assessments, risk assessment, and recovery plans.

  • Your experience in delivering substance misuse interventions extends to both office-based and community environments.

  • You have effective time management skills and attention to detail, with knowledge of the impact of substance misuse on communities.

  • You bring a knowledge of the criminal justice system as it pertains to adults and young people, along with experience working with young people.

  • You possess attributes such as flexibility, teamwork ability, communication skills, and a non-discriminatory approach while maintaining a professional attitude at all times.



What the Job Involves



  • Your role centers on completing comprehensive assessments and risk assessments for individuals with substance misuse issues, particularly adults and young people.

  • You will deliver a variety of substance misuse interventions, tailored to support recovery from addictions, and provide harm reduction advice.

  • The job requires communication and liaison with partner agencies to gain relevant information for a holistic approach to treatment.

  • You will manage a caseload, conduct quarterly care plan reviews, and maintain accurate service records, ensuring all data is confidentially entered into systems.

  • The position involves responsibility in attending multi-professional meetings, delivering educational sessions, providing training as required, and facilitating residential rehabilitation access when needed.

  • You will facilitate one-on-one and group interventions, supporting both individuals and their families/carers, and undertake any additional duties consistent with the role.

  • Adherence to Council's Equal Opportunities policy and Data Protection legislation is mandatory, and you must be prepared to undertake necessary training, attend meetings beyond core hours, and have evidence of a COVID-19 vaccine or exemption along with a driving license.
