Job Description
CMA is partnering with a local well establish business to recruit an Assistant Accountant on a permanent basis due to the continued growth of the company. Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager the role will provide technical accounting support to the finance team. The business is keen to develop within and there will be ample opportunity for progression and development.
What will the Assistant Accountant role involve?
Drive process improvements and system enhancements in order to ensure that the financial close is completed each month according to the timetable and that numbers reported are accurate and timely.
Trial balance ownership with commentaries for month end review.
Control of revenue recognition and cost of goods sold for the division and function,
Accounting for associated items such as Inventories, Rebates, Commissions, Royalties, Accruals, Prepayments, Advanced Payments and other provisions.
Overheads analysis -trend analysis/ variances
Ensure that the transactional processing of customer invoicing and Intercompany invoicing is in line with the expectations, follow up on any specific queries and errors as required.
Bank payments approvals.
Improve the procedures and structures relating to the production of timely, accurate financial information that provides sufficient detail to assist colleagues.
Perform controls relating to journal and balance sheet reconciliations and reviews.
Provide support to ensure successful closure of the Divisional/ UK Statutory Accounts Audits.
Ensure all requests raised by Auditors are addressed in a timely manner and support is provided in full and follow up where necessary.
Responsibilities for International entities within the division.
Review monthly management pack.
Ensure the entities are funded as required in order to meet their obligations.
Ensure cost plus invoices are raised correctly.
Support business in the entities specific requirements, revenue recognition, providing information for trading licence renewal.
Support statutory accountant in relation to audit requirements.
Suitable Candidate for the Assistant Accountant vacancy:
ACA/ ACMA/ ACCA/ CIMA or equivalent
Competent MS Excel user (vlookups, pivot tables).
Proven track record of implementing and adjusting processes while maintaining strong and robust controls.
Experience in multi entity period end close desirable.
Enthusiastic team player with positive and professional attitude
Ability to work to strict deadlines and to handle and embrace changes.
Ability to build strong work relationship both internally and externally.
Excellent attention to detail.
Good organisation and prioritisation skills.
