Trainee Buyer
Alexander Steele is recruiting a Trainee Buyer to join a leading food business based in Surrey. The role holder will be responsible for undertaking all activities relating to sourcing individual products from EU/none EU countries. This is an exciting opportunity to embark in a career in procurement and gain hands-on experience in sourcing, supplier management, and category development.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain expert knowledge of assigned product groups including raw material pricing and availability, economic factors, supply chain security issues.
- Develop and maintain commercial relationships with all existing and new suppliers.
- Ensure all paperwork is completed such as writing contracts for both supplier and customers, and request volume and price confirmation by email from the customer
- Monitor supplier performance to ensure consistent quality and timely delivery
Background Experience:
- Degree qualified in relevant field – 2:1 or above
- French or Spanish speaking would be desirable
- Excellent communicator, customer focussed with commercial awareness
- Interest in FMCGs and the food industry
- Analytical and process minded
What’s on Offer:
- £30,000 (plans to increase over a 12-month period)
