R&D Design Engineer

Job Description
Our clients have an exciting opportunity for an R&D Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team near Havant.
The R&D Engineer will carry out market research and develop new engineering solutions for their clients. Developing industrial mechanical, automation equipment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Define product specifications for new engineering research projects.
* Use engineering principles, calculations, and industry-specific design software (CAD, FEA) for design and analysis tasks.
* Utilise in house tools such as CNC machines, laser cutting and brake press equipment to design, develop and build prototypes that use moving mechanical parts, AC/DC motors, electromagnetic equipment.
* Collaborate with various departments (manufacturing, quality assurance, marketing) to ensure product viability and alignment with company goals.
* Experience of working within mature PLM/NPI processes.
* Maintain thorough records of research, design, testing, and development activities.
* Investigate failures, participate in design reviews, modify drawings and/or, prepare work packages for others to carry-out as necessary.
* Consult with manufacturing and fabrication teams to design and develop tooling and processes.
* Witness and evaluate results from product testing and analyse impact on design.
* Ensure the validity of product performance criteria through evaluation of marketing requirements, customer feedback, field research, competitive product performance, latest product standards and application of experience.
* To carry out such additional responsibilities as may be considered necessary by the Management.
Ideal skills & experience:
* Knowledge of a recognised NPI process
* Experience working within a mechanical / machinery or automation environment
* 3D Modelling
* Design for manufacture experience
