Job Title: SEN Tutor - GCSE Maths & English

Location: Manchester

Job Type: [Part-time/Temporary]

Hourly: £25-£35

Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated SEN Tutor to work with students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the delivery of GCSE Maths and English education. The successful candidate will work in a supportive and nurturing environment, providing tailored tuition that meets the individual learning needs of students, promoting academic progress, and supporting personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

* Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons in GCSE Maths and English, tailored to the specific needs of students with SEMH and ASD.

* Provide one-to-one or small group tutoring, using a range of strategies to support learning and engagement.

* Develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and adapt teaching approaches based on student assessments and ongoing progress monitoring.

* Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, promoting emotional well-being and supporting students' social development.

* Implement appropriate behavioural strategies to support students with SEMH and ASD, ensuring their needs are met within the learning environment.

* Use a variety of resources, including visual aids, practical tasks, and technology, to support students' learning styles.

* Collaborate with the wider SEND team, including Teaching Assistants and Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCO), to ensure a holistic approach to student support.

* Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to parents, guardians, and school staff.

* Promote independent learning and study skills, encouraging students to take ownership of their educational journey.

* Adhere to safeguarding and child protection policies and promote a safe and secure learning environment for all students.

Key Requirements:

* Qualified teacher status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, DTLLS).

* Experience working with students with SEMH and ASD, particularly in a GCSE context.

* Strong knowledge and understanding of the GCSE Maths and English curriculum.

* Ability to differentiate lessons to meet the diverse needs of learners.

* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and other professionals.

* Patience, resilience, and a positive approach to working with students with additional needs.

* A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

* Understanding of relevant safeguarding and child protection procedures.

Desirable Skills:

* Training or qualifications in Special Educational Needs (SEN), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH).

* Experience using assistive technology and other resources to support students with additional learning needs.

* Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
