Research Analyst

The Team:

We are a team of experienced analysts with diverse backgrounds based all over the globe covering all continents and the developments in soft commodities. We value diversity and teamwork; it’s crucial that you are a team player in order to be successful within our organization.

Responsibilities and Impact:

• Harness existing data sets, identify new data sets for collection and analysis and conduct rigorous reviews of the quality of that information.
• Create compelling written content for our daily, monthly and annual reports that helps our core readership make better-informed trading, risk management and investment decisions.
• Engage with customers and potential customers, including webinars/Zoom/Teams Calls on topical issues, demonstrating expertise and acting as ambassador for S&P Global’s pursuit of analytical excellence.
• Identify new mechanisms, methods and technologies to support and further develop our industry-leading commodities analytics.
• Prepare presentations and represent the company at international events.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience in agriculture markets (5 years), with a particular focus on sugar, coffee or cocoa.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including concise written style; and presentation skills.
• Strong customer mindset with demonstrated ability to engage directly and honestly with customers and deliver positive experience by creating a partnership mentality.
• Strong Excel skills. Experience with power modelling tools useful but not essential.

Key soft skills needed:

• Strong communication to facilitate collaboration with clients and stakeholders.
• Analytical thinking to interpret vast amounts of market data effectively.
• Relationship building as an essential aspect of every commodity analyst.
• Emotional intelligence including self-awareness and stress tolerance.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency in identifying, gathering, and analyzing information to solve problems effectively. Knowledge of mathematical, statistical and modelling concepts and research methods would be beneficial.
